🍣 Almost everything will work again if you do this

Anne Lamott has this great line:

"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you."

And ain't that the truth.

We like to compare our brains and bodies to machines.

A faulty metaphor.

But, within the above idea, it works very well.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by everything around us.

I wonder if that's a feature, not a bug.

A sign that you care.

After all, if you don't care, then you simply coast past events as if nothing happened.

But i know that's not you.

Yes, you.

Reading this right now.

Fourth wall, yeah?

This idea is one of the reasons i've been a fan of the TBD Conference for years.

Paul (the founder) has a fabulous mind, and deep generosity of spirit when it comes to knowledge.

And the folks he invites over to talk share the exact same traits.

The topic this year?

Re/dis/connecting.

Beautiful.

Important.

Unplugging to give your mind a chance to sharpen itself.

Well, i spoke to Paul and got a sweet deal for ya.

If you use this link, which has the code 'salmontheory', he will give you an extra free ticket.

He'll email you a code after you buy the ticket.

I am a deep believer that we all have emotional and intellectual seasons.

May this be the season you unplug, replug, and come back with a 117% charge.

That's right, you get to bend physics for a hot second here.

See you at TBD?

Hey friend – Rob here. This is the last newsletter of the year, and goodness me what a year it's been. I was made redundant. I started a business. I lost my mother. I hope you have a chance to take a break, genuinely turn off those notifications, and sleep in if you feel like it. I bring below 3x articles i wrote recently, and an event we're running in January. See you in 2025, and thanks for supporting...

Hey friend – Rob here. Do you worry about things? Or at all? My suspicion is that you worry far too much about everything. But don't worry, so do i. I think it's part of what makes strategists minimally good at the job. We are always wondering what else we might be missing. It's not a point of advantage, but it's definitely a point of parity. Worrying means we don't take anything for granted. And that's the first ingredient you need to challenge preconceptions about a problem. However. As you...
